The Student Council of CfPS Law School acts as the voice for University of London law students in Sri Lanka, promoting spirit, managing student life, and organizing events like charity drives (e.g., Future Beyond Bars) and initiatives (e.g., Shoreline Guards), with elected members serving for a year to enhance student experience, develop leadership, and foster community engagement within the legal education sphere.
This is the main student body of the Law School. Elected by the students, for the students. A wide range of activities are offered by the student's council in order to develop skills and foster fellowship of the student community. These activities and interactions are aimed at enhancing life skills, as well as offering opportunities for sports and other recreational activities.
The Mooting, Mediation, and Debating Society (MMDS) of CfPS Law School is a vibrant student body focused on advocacy skills, running moot court, mediation, and debating competitions to develop critical thinking and legal acumen for future Lawyers, actively organizing events like AGMs, welcoming new members, and celebrating student successes in national/international competitions.
Activities organized by MMDS provides students with an opportunity to develop and demonstrate their legal research, drafting and oral skills in a competitive setting. The Annual mooting, mediation and debating competition is one of the prominent events organised by MMDS. This is one of the main events in our institute's academic calendar.
The Rotaract Club of CFPS Law School is a vibrant student-led service organization, sponsored by Rotary Colombo East, focused on leadership, professional development, and community service, bringing together law students for projects like fundraisers, awareness campaigns (e.g., mental health, disaster relief), social events, and skill-building workshops.
The primary objective of the Rotaract Club of CfPS is to empower students to make a positive impact on the campus and local communities while developing leadership and professional skills.
By facilitating events of this nature, CfPS demonstrates its commitment to producing well rounded law graduates who are not only academically accomplished, but also practice ready.
All our student organizations follow democratic principles with elected leadership ensuring student representation and effective management.
All executive committee members are elected annually by the student body through democratic elections.
Council and club leaders serve for one academic year, providing opportunities for more students to develop leadership skills.
Each organization has EXCO with roles like President, Secretary, Treasurer, and committee heads for different functions.
